- Bruce and Allison show off their
Les Routiers Restaurant of the Year
Award in London
Opened
at Sibthorpe Hill, Tuxford, 10 years ago by Bruce and Allison Elliott-Bateman,
the Mussel and Crab beat off opposition from Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire,
Lincolnshire, Oxfordshire, Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, Leicestershire,
Rutland, West Midlands including Birmingham & Dudley, Staffordshire,
Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.
Bruce, who received his accolade at the Les Routiers award Dinner at Park Lane
in London in September said: "We are very proud to have been chosen ahead
of some stiff opposition from such a vast area of the country."
"It is a great honour to be recognised by our own industry and much of the
credit must go to our dedicated staff, including a team of eight chefs."
Apart from an imaginative range of seafood dishes, discerning Mussel and Crab
diners have been attracted by an ambitious programme of improvements over the
last few years.
The Mediterranean style curved zinc bar was the first of its kind in Britain
The Piazza Room was added, with its meticulously painted murals. And later, a Roof Garden and Alfresco terrace were opened to complement the restaurant's
Mediterranean Room and traditional dining area.
Now Bruce
and Allison are planning to build some luxurious bedrooms for diners, and
extend their award-winning kitchen to enable them to smoke their own
fish. |
